The thought of living a life without cigarettes is hard to deal with for many of us. When you have been an addict for many years you have developed more than just a nicotine addiction. It almost feels like the cigarette is our friend and letting go and and never seeing it again is hard. If we were only addicted to nicotine we could just keep buying patches from the chemist for the rest of our days and we wouldn't be affected by it at all. But it is not the same is it? We are addicted to smoking, not nicotine. It is the tar and the 1500 chemicals added to cigarettes that will shorten our life dramatically, and we know this consciously, but does it mean we'll just put the cigarettes down and never touch them again? No, unfortunately not.
The shelves are covered with various aids that promise to help us quit and there are daily scare-campaigns all over the media trying to convince us that we should quit. In my opinion, they are all a waste of time. We don't need anyone telling us that smoking is bad for us, we know that already. What we need is a tool to help us understand what is connecting us to the smoking and what the sub-conscious mind feels about it. Because at the end of the day, our sub-conscious mind is in control and it decides if you are quitting or not. So, it is time to pick up the phone and connect to our sub-conscious.
On a simple level, your brain is divided into two parts, one you can control and one you can't. The conscious brain is in charge of everything that you are aware of and have the ability to change. The sub-conscious part on the other hand controls the thing you consciously don't so that you can focus on the important things in life and not have to worry whether or not your heart is beating. Your sub-conscious is also in charge of pleasure vs pain, so if a certain activity such as quitting smoking is going cause us more pain than pleasure, it just won't do it. So, even though you know that quitting smoking is the right choice and you consciously want to do it, unless you have your sub-conscious on-board from the start you have already lost.
Humans are the only species able to both think and make rational decisions that are good for us. That said, our decisions are heavily influenced by how our mind has been programmed during our younger years. So, if our programming is that quitting is just too hard, we will never be able to quit.
Self-hypnosis is a fantastic tool which gives you the ability to access the sub-conscious mind and re-program it. If you would like to quit smoking, the first thing you have to do is change your thoughts about it. Self-hypnosis will take you on a journey deep into your mind to help you see what has been holding you back from quitting for all these years.
